Hello friends!

Sometimes life gets a little hectic, and we all need a moment to pause, breathe, and remember the simple comforts that make us smile. Today, let’s take a cue from our cuddly companions: teddy bears—proof that sometimes, the best kind of therapy is stuffed and slightly fuzzy.

Whether it’s a treasured childhood bear, a gift from a loved one, or just a tiny reminder to slow down, these little bundles of comfort remind us that it’s okay to feel, to rest, and to hug a little tighter—both ourselves and those around us.

Wishing you a cozy, calm, and slightly fuzzy day!

See you out there in beautiful Wake,
Diane

Philippians 4:6

“Why don’t teddy bears ever eat dessert? Because they’re already stuffed!”

  • Origin of the Name: Teddy bears are named after U.S. President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt. In 1902, he famously refused to shoot a bear cub during a hunting trip, inspiring a cartoon that led to the creation of the first teddy bear.

  • First Teddy Bears: The first commercial teddy bears were created in 1903 by two separate companies almost simultaneously: Morris Michtom in the U.S. and Richard Steiff in Germany.

What’s Happening in Wake County?

Carolina Mudcats Rebrand

After more than 30 years in Zebulon, the Carolina Mudcats will move to Wilson in 2026 and rebrand as the Wilson Warbirds. While the team is leaving, baseball in Zebulon isn’t disappearing—it’s evolving. The Durham Bulls’ owner, Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC), has been approved by Wake County to lease and operate Five County Stadium, pending town approval. Under a proposed 10-year lease, CBC will host Coastal Plain League games as well as Wake Tech baseball, softball, and soccer, pay $710,000 in lease fees, and invest nearly $9 million over two years in upgrades alongside Wake County and Zebulon, including new lighting and a scoreboard. CBC will also provide up to 10 rent-free events annually for the town and county and help establish a capital repair fund. CBC emphasizes that their goal is to keep the stadium a vibrant community asset supporting both sports and education.

Even before CBC’s involvement, Zebulon officials sought input from the public about the stadium’s future, inviting residents to share their thoughts on whether it should continue as a baseball venue, host concerts, serve mixed-use purposes, or become green space. For longtime fans, Five County Stadium has been more than just a ballpark—it has been a place for families, friends, and generations to make memories. As one fan recalled, “I grew up coming to games here with my dad and grandfather… those memories stick.” With CBC at the helm, Five County Stadium is poised to continue creating new memories while honoring its rich legacy.

The shelter's Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) program intervened, offering Jake assistance through pet food support and foster care, allowing him to regain stability.
