Cobblestone Village: Rolesville’s New Downtown Destination
At the corner of Main and Young Streets, Cobblestone Village is quickly becoming the heart of Rolesville. The mixed-use community combines modern apartments, shops, dining, and green space—creating a walkable hub for living and gathering.
Residents enjoy luxury apartments with high-end amenities, while visitors flock to ground-floor retail and hot spots like the Artisan Beer & Cheese Shop and Pixels Bar & Arcade. A central green hosts Second Sundays Market, with live music, food, and local vendors each month.
This project ties into Rolesville’s bigger vision: a more vibrant, pedestrian-friendly downtown. The Main Street Projectis adding sidewalks, bike lanes, landscaping, and safer intersections. Future plans include a new Town Campus, a 116-acre park, and even a WakeMed ER facility.
Cobblestone Village is more than apartments—it’s a destination, and a sign of Rolesville’s exciting growth.
Second Leading Cause of Youth Deaths
This National Suicide Prevention Day, we pause to recognize the urgent need to support Wake County’s youth. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for North Carolina teens, and local data shows that Wake County averages about two student deaths by suicide each year, alongside rising emergency visits for suicidal ideation and attempts. Prevention starts with awareness and connection: open conversations at home and school, accessible mental health resources, and programs like Hope Squad that train peers to recognize warning signs. Communities can also reduce risk by securing firearms, promoting social support, and strengthening access to counselors, telehealth, and crisis services. Every intervention matters—most youth who survive an attempt do not go on to die by suicide. On this day, let’s commit to building a caring, proactive network around our young people, reminding them that help is always available. For immediate support, call or text 988 or contact NAMI Wake County.
Man Charged in Scam Targeting Elderly
Brian Alexander Taulton, 57, has been charged with defrauding elderly homeowners in multiple states through a scam involving driveway repairs. Victims were promised discounted services, but were often overcharged for substandard work. In one case, a 95-year-old woman paid nearly $18,000 for shoddy repairs.
Taulton was arrested by Wake Forest police and is being held at the Wake County Detention Center on a $346,000 bond. Authorities have also served him with warrants from Virginia for similar crimes. Law enforcement urges seniors to verify contractors, obtain multiple estimates, and be wary of unsolicited offers requiring upfront payments.

🎉 Wilson Sisters Win Big with Life-Changing Diabetes App
Wilson County, NC — Meet Lydia and Bethany Denton, two brilliant sisters from Wilson Early College Academy who are making waves in health tech and inspiring young innovators across North Carolina.
What started as a personal project to help those managing diabetes has blossomed into an award-winning breakthrough. The sisters developed BITES Bento, a smart app paired with a specialized Bento box that tracks nutritional information to help users better manage their blood sugar levels.
The BITES Bento system integrates cutting-edge technology with everyday tools, making diabetes management simpler and more accessible. Their app allows users to log meals, track carbohydrates, and receive personalized recommendations — all in one easy-to-use platform.
Their hard work and creativity didn’t go unnoticed. Lydia and Bethany’s app won the prestigious 2024 Congressional App Challenge for North Carolina’s 1st District. As winners, they’ll showcase BITES Bento at the U.S. Capitol and present at the House of Code Festival in Washington, D.C., sharing their story on a national stage.
Beyond the awards, the Denton sisters are role models demonstrating how technology and empathy can come together to solve real-world problems. Their journey is a shining example of how young minds in North Carolina are shaping the future—one innovation at a time.
The Wilson community couldn’t be prouder of these young women whose vision and determination have not only created a valuable tool but also brought positive attention to their hometown.
