Rental Market Correction

Wake County, NC, is experiencing a rental market paradox, where record-breaking demand from in-migration meets a surge in new apartment inventory, causing average rents to dip slightly to $1,394 per month. While increased supply has shifted power to tenants and driven concessions, the region faces a severe affordability gap with nearly half of all renters cost-burdened, prompting active intervention from local officials. 🔥 Most Intense Heat Wave in Years on Way for Central NC

Central North Carolina is bracing for what meteorologists are calling one of the most intense heat waves in recent years, with dangerously high temperatures and humidity expected to build across the Triangle.

Forecasters say daytime highs could push into the upper 90s, with heat index values making it feel well above 105 degrees in some areas. The combination of heat and humidity will increase the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, especially for children, older adults, and anyone working outdoors.

Officials are encouraging residents to take precautions—stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on neighbors who may need extra support. Cooling centers and shaded public spaces may see increased use as the heat peaks.

Even evening hours are expected to stay warm, offering little overnight relief as temperatures remain unseasonably high.

🌡️ As summer ramps up, this system serves as a reminder that extreme heat is one of the most serious weather hazards in North Carolina. 👉 Read the full article here:
