Hello, friends!
Today is National Nothing To Fear Day — a gentle reminder that courage isn’t the absence of fear, but the quiet strength to face it head-on. In a world that often feels uncertain and overwhelming, this day invites us to pause, breathe, and recognize the power we hold within ourselves.
Fear can be a heavy weight, but it doesn’t have to define us. Every small step forward, every moment we choose hope over hesitation, builds a bridge to the life we truly desire. So today, embrace the possibilities that lie beyond fear. Trust in your resilience, your wisdom, and your heart’s capacity to guide you.
Remember, you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and more capable than you imagine. Let’s celebrate this day by stepping into the light of confidence and peace — with nothing to fear but the chance to grow.
See you out there in beautiful Wake,
Diane

From Battle to Triumph: Teen’s Journey
In a truly inspiring story of courage and resilience, MacKenzie Maddry, a high school senior from Bella Vista, Arkansas, has recently celebrated a milestone many thought impossible. After being diagnosed with a rare bone cancer called osteosarcoma in eighth grade, MacKenzie faced grueling treatments including chemotherapy and multiple surgeries.
Her fight took an even more challenging turn in 2022 when she developed severe heart failure. Doctors implanted a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) to keep her alive until she received a heart transplant in mid-2024. Despite these hardships and the risks that followed, MacKenzie persevered.
Not only did she complete her senior year through online classes while recovering, but she also attended her senior prom and proudly walked across the stage at graduation in May 2025. Her determination and positive spirit have inspired everyone around her.
Now in good health and looking ahead, MacKenzie plans to pursue a career in pediatric nursing. She has already started college courses and actively volunteers with organizations supporting cancer research and heart transplant awareness. Her story is a powerful reminder of hope, strength, and the human spirit’s incredible ability to overcome even the toughest challenges.
