📍 Today’s Chuckle 📍
Why did October break up with September? Because it needed more space… for pumpkins, costumes, and emotionally complex leaf piles.
📍 Trivia 📍
On this day, Orville and Wilbur Wright set a new world record for sustained flight near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, staying aloft for over an hour in their Wright Flyer III.
This achievement marked a major leap in aviation history and reinforced North Carolina’s claim as the “First in Flight” state.

All About North Carolina
🍁 Weekend Escape: Fall Magic on the Blue Ridge Parkway
If you're craving crisp mountain air, fiery foliage, and a peaceful break from the everyday, the Blue Ridge Parkway is calling. Known as “America’s Favorite Drive,” this scenic highway winds through the Appalachian Highlands, offering breathtaking views and cozy roadside charm. And right now—mid to late October—is the perfect time to go.
The trees are putting on a show, painting the landscape in brilliant reds, oranges, and golds, especially around Grandfather Mountain and the iconic Linn Cove Viaduct. Whether you're hiking a quiet trail, snapping photos of misty valleys, or enjoying a picnic with a view, the Parkway delivers serenity at every turn.
Make it a weekend getaway: book a cabin, sip cider by the fire, and let the rhythm of the mountains reset your soul. Fall doesn’t last forever—but the memories you’ll make here just might.

Wings of Generosity in South Carolina
On a biting December 10, 2025, evening in Charleston, South Carolina, sisters Kayla Dillard (10) and Emily Dillard (8) shivered at their Girl Scout cookie booth outside a Harris Teeter supermarket, sales slow in the howling wind. Enter an anonymous gentleman in a worn coat—later revealed as retired veteran Tom Hargrove, 68—who bought seven boxes for $70, tipping $40 with a wink: "Keep the change, ladies; sweet treats for a sweet cause." Circling back 20 minutes later, he saw them still freezing and said gently, "Pack it all up—I'm buying every last box so you can warm up inside." That meant $540 total, enough to fund their entire troop's community service projects for a year. The girls, bundled and beaming, hugged him tearfully as he loaded the cookies into his truck. Tom, who'd lost his daughter young, simply replied, "Y'all reminded me of her smile—now go make more." The story went viral, drawing $15,000 in additional troop donations. How it made a difference: Tom's lavish kindness thawed the girls' literal and figurative chill, funding uniforms and outings for 20 scouts while healing a piece of his own grief through their joy, and sparking a city-wide cookie drive for local shelters.
Cold winds can't dim a warm heart's glow; one generous soul can bundle up a neighborhood's dreams, proving kindness is the ultimate legacy we leave in fleeting encounters.
"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."
— Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
