This Week’s Feature-North Carolina for the Holidays!
Not every holiday moment needs a packed schedule or a long to-do list. Sometimes the most meaningful memories are made right at home, wrapped in comfort, laughter, and a slower pace.
Plan a holiday movie marathon with timeless favorites like Home Alone or White Christmas, complete with mugs of hot cocoa and cozy blankets. Turn the evening into a family slumber party under the glow of the tree, reading stories and playing soft holiday music in the background. If you do venture out, keep it simple with a stop at a cozy café or fireplace bar for a seasonal drink like peppermint hot chocolate. And for a personal touch, spend an afternoon baking treats or making small crafts to share with neighbors—simple gestures that capture the true spirit of the season.
May your home be filled with warmth, your heart with peace, and your days with simple joys this holiday season. Wishing you comfort, love, and gentle moments that linger long after the decorations come down.

Because we can all use some good news.
In Monroe, Union County, a longtime tradition of community care took on special meaning this December. For years, the Union County Christmas Bureau—a volunteer-powered organization dedicated to helping families in need—has worked with churches, businesses, civic groups, and individual donors to make sure every child in their community wakes up to joy on Christmas morning. What started as a collaborative effort decades ago has grown into something powerful: thousands of gifts, food boxes for holiday dinners, warm clothing, and smiles shared between neighbors across the county.
This year, the spirit of giving was especially evident thanks to employees from Atrium Health Union. Knowing local families were still struggling to keep up with basic needs, nurses and staff organized a special diaper drive in addition to donating dozens of bicycles for children—lining them up like shining tokens of hope in the Christmas Bureau’s warehouse. Community volunteers filled trailers with boxes of diapers, toys, and essentials, all bound for families who qualified for support.
By early December, the generosity of Union County truly shone: hundreds of families who might otherwise have faced a quiet or difficult holiday instead received gifts, food, and the comfort of knowing their community cared. This wasn’t just charity—it was neighbors helping neighbors, sharing kindness and warmth when it mattered most
"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."
— Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
