Hello, friends!

Have you ever wished for a “do-over” day? Or maybe just one more slice of that perfect cake, one more listen to your favorite song, or one more belly laugh with a friend? Well, you’re in luck—June 3rd is National Repeat Day!

Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like: a day dedicated to doing things you love again. And why not? Life moves fast. If something brings you joy, repeat it. Twice. Maybe even three times. Whether it's a second cup of coffee, rewatching that movie that always makes you cry-laugh, or calling a friend just to say, “You’re awesome”—Repeat Day is your permission slip to savor the good stuff on loop.

So today, I invite you to celebrate the beauty of reruns, redos, and repeat delights. Do what makes you smile—and then do it again. You deserve it.

Let’s make today worth repeating. 💫

🥜 Peanut Pride in North Carolina: Farms, Festivals & Fun You’ll Go Nuts For

When folks talk about North Carolina, they usually mention the barbecue, the beaches, or maybe the Blue Ridge Mountains. But travel east toward the rich, sandy soils of the Coastal Plain and you’ll uncover something just as special: peanuts!

That’s right—North Carolina is a major player in the peanut-growing game, especially in places like Bertie, Halifax, Martin, and Northampton counties. These little legumes aren’t just a cash crop—they’re part of the culture, the cooking, and even the calendar, thanks to some charming hometown festivals that celebrate peanut season in true Southern style.

🌱 From Ground to Glory: A Peek at Peanut Farming

Peanut farming in North Carolina hits its stride from late summer to early fall, when rows of bushy plants stretch across the fields. The real magic happens underground, where the peanuts grow—unlike tree nuts, they’re actually legumes (like beans or peas)!

Come harvest time—usually September to October—farmers flip the plants to dry the peanuts in the sun. If you’re driving through peanut country then, don’t be surprised to see golden rows lying upside down across the fields, basking in the Carolina sunshine.

Some farms may welcome visitors during the season, especially if you call ahead. A visit might get you a firsthand look at the growing and harvesting process—and maybe even a chance to take home fresh green peanuts, perfect for boiling Southern-style.

🎉 Festivals Worth Shelling Out For

What’s better than eating peanuts? Celebrating them! Here are a few can’t-miss events where the humble peanut gets its moment in the spotlight:

📍 Edenton Peanut Festival & Battle of the Bands

  • When: First weekend in October (2025 date TBD)

  • Where: John A. Holmes High School, Edenton, NC

  • What’s Happening: This 40+ year tradition includes a colorful parade, high school marching band competition, arts & crafts, fair food, and plenty of peanut-themed treats. It’s a community classic that’s as fun as it is flavorful.

📍 Aulander Peanut Festival

  • When: October (date for 2025 to be confirmed)

  • Where: Downtown Aulander, NC

  • What’s Happening: This local favorite includes vendors, music, games, and good eats in celebration of Bertie County’s agricultural roots. It’s small-town charm at its best.

😋 What Else Can You Do in Peanut Country?

  • Try Boiled Peanuts: A Southern snack like no other—salty, soft, and totally addictive. Look for roadside stands or local shops selling them fresh.

  • Stop by Bertie County Peanuts (Windsor, NC): This charming store offers everything from chocolate-covered peanuts to spicy habanero blends. Great gifts and even better snacks!

  • Take in the Views: During harvest, the fields are picture-perfect. Bring your camera and catch the golden-hour glow on rows of drying peanut plants.

  • Learn Something New: Kids and adults alike will be fascinated to learn how peanuts grow underground and why they’re such an important part of NC’s agriculture.

💛 Why It’s Worth the Trip

North Carolina’s peanut culture is more than just food—it’s tradition. It's about hardworking families, tight-knit communities, and the pride that comes from growing something good. Whether you're crunching on a honey-roasted snack or dancing at a peanut festival parade, you'll feel it: that warm, grounded joy that only small-town Southern life can offer.

So grab your calendar, your camera, and maybe a bib (boiled peanuts can be messy!)—and plan your own peanut adventure in North Carolina. You’re in for a treat!

Four Rescued from Inlet Currents on North Carolina Coast
Officials Warn of Hidden Dangers

Four swimmers were rescued over the weekend after being swept away by powerful inlet currents along the North Carolina coast. Lifeguards and bystanders acted quickly to bring everyone to safety.

Unlike rip currents, which pull directly away from shore, inlet currents can shift suddenly and move unpredictably with the tide. Officials called them a “different monster,” warning beachgoers not to underestimate the risk.

Swimmers are urged to avoid inlets, check local advisories, and stay near lifeguards. As summer begins, authorities stress the importance of understanding coastal water hazards. Read More

🎓 A Graduation Hug That Stole Everyone’s Heart

On May 10, 2025, Clemson University’s graduation ceremony became more than just a celebration of academic achievements—it became a beautiful moment of love and connection.

As Clemson’s President Jim Clements was conferring degrees, his daughter Grace, a graduate of the ClemsonLIFE program, surprised him by running up to the stage. Overcome with emotion, Grace wrapped her arms around her dad in a hug so heartfelt it quickly turned into a joyful tackle.

This spontaneous embrace captured the hearts of everyone watching and soon went viral, reminding us all of the power of family support and the meaningful milestones that bring us together.

The ClemsonLIFE program offers young adults with intellectual disabilities the chance to experience college life fully and grow in independence. Grace’s accomplishment highlights both her determination and the program’s incredible impact.

It’s moments like these that remind us how much more there is to celebrate beyond the diploma—a shared journey of love, resilience, and pride.
