The Gift of Time: A Precious Present for Our Seniors
In a world that moves faster each day, the greatest gift we can give isn’t something wrapped in paper or tied with a bow—it’s the gift of time. For our seniors, moments shared, stories heard, and hands held can mean more than any material present.
Spending time with an older loved one is a way to honor their journey, their wisdom, and the life they’ve built. It can be as simple as sharing a cup of tea, taking a walk together, listening to memories of days gone by, or helping with small tasks that make life a little easier. These moments carry warmth, laughter, and connection that linger far longer than any store-bought gift.
Time is a gift that says, “You matter. Your life, your stories, your presence are cherished.” In giving our time, we give comfort, joy, and love—an unspoken promise that no one is ever alone. This season, let us remember that the most meaningful gifts are not bought, but shared, heart to heart.
Because when we give our time, we give our love—and that is truly timeless.

The Meals for Angels (Angel Fund) program ensures that no Wake County student goes without a nutritious school meal, even when their lunch account runs short. Through community donations, students receive a full meal instead of an alternative option, reducing hunger and supporting better learning.
How to Help:
Donate to the Districtwide Angel Fund through WCPSS Child Nutrition Services. Contributions go directly toward covering student meal balances.
Spread the word to friends, neighbors, and local organizations to help grow support.
Support local hunger-relief partners across Wake County through volunteering or donating food and funds.
A small gift makes a big difference — helping kids focus on learning, not hunger.

Sandy the Blind Dog — A Miracle After 33 Days
When a severe thunderstorm rolled through Houston, Texas, Juliette Gonzalez’s senior dog Sandy, blind and frightened, slipped through an open gate. The moment Juliette realized he was missing, panic overtook her — Sandy couldn’t see, couldn’t navigate traffic, couldn’t survive on his own.
For 33 days, Juliette, her neighbors, and dozens of volunteers searched relentlessly. They printed flyers, combed wooded areas, checked drainage ditches, and used AI-powered neighborhood tools to scan community camera footage. Every night Juliette prayed for just one more day with him.
Then, on a warm afternoon over a month later, a resident reported seeing a small, frail dog wandering near a creek. Volunteers rushed over. When they finally reached him, Sandy lifted his nose to the air — recognizing Juliette before he ever heard her voice. The reunion was emotional, messy, and perfect. Sandy, weak but alive, leaned into her chest as if saying, I never stopped trying to come home.
"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."
