Escape to Charm: A Weekend at The Country Squire Restaurant, Inn & Winery

If you’re craving a weekend getaway that blends Southern charm, fine wine, and cozy accommodations, look no further than The Country Squire Restaurant, Inn & Winery in the Warsaw/Kenansville area of North Carolina. Nestled amid rolling countryside, this hidden gem feels like stepping into a storybook retreat—where you can sip, dine, and unwind all in one place.

Start your visit with a stroll through the vineyard, where grapevines glisten in the sun and the fresh country air instantly melts away stress. Wine lovers will delight in tasting a curated selection of handcrafted wines produced on site—perfectly paired with a casual afternoon picnic or a sunset moment on the patio. Hungry? Their full-service restaurant serves up Southern-inspired dishes that are as flavorful as the wines themselves, from fresh salads to hearty entrees, making every meal a memorable experience.

When it’s time to stay the night, the Vintage Inn and guest cottages provide cozy, charming accommodations, turning your winery visit into a true weekend escape. Imagine curling up in a plush bed, waking up to birdsong and vineyard views, and enjoying breakfast before heading back out to explore the grounds.

For a touch of extra fun, the winery occasionally hosts live music, seasonal events, and wine-pairing dinners, giving visitors even more ways to savor the experience. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a girls’ weekend, or just a peaceful retreat from city life, The Country Squire offers a delightful combination of wine, food, and hospitality that’s hard to resist.

From vineyard strolls to cozy stays, this is more than just a winery—it’s a destination that invites you to slow down, sip slowly, and savor the sweet life of rural North Carolina.

Adopt‑Me Not Alone: A Senior Dog Finds His Forever Home

In October 2025, a sweet and spirited dog named Udon, age 8, finally experienced the joy of a forever home—after spending more than four long years in a Michigan shelter. Over half his life had been spent watching other dogs leave for new families, while he remained behind, patiently waiting for someone to see his unique spark.

Udon is no ordinary senior dog. He is full of life, known for his playful ā€œzoomies,ā€ love of car rides, and delight in splashing around in kiddie pools. Volunteers at the shelter often described him as a dog who brought smiles to everyone’s day, even while waiting for his turn to be loved.

When the right family finally came along, Udon’s patience and gentle spirit paid off. He now sleeps soundly in his own bed, enjoys car rides and backyard adventures, and basks in the kind of care and companionship he had long deserved.

Message: Udon’s story is a beautiful reminder that patience pays off. Sometimes the underdog—or under‑dog—just needs the right person to recognize their worth. Every life, no matter how long it waits, is worth loving.

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."
— Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
