Hello friends!
Hey you glorious procrastinators,
It’s December 9th — National Christmas Card Day. (100% invented by Hallmark so they can sell more glitter and guilt.)
Now go panic-write thirty cards, misspell three names, and accidentally send your cousin the one that says “Merry Christmas, you filthy animal.”
You’ve got 16 days left before the group-chat snowflake emoji becomes legally binding.
See you out there in beautiful Wake,
Diane
—Philippians 4:6
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

📍 Today’s Chuckle 📍
I tried to send eco-friendly Christmas cards this year.
You know, the ones: recycled paper, no glitter, tasteful minimalist design.
My family opened them, stared for five seconds, and said, “So… you hate us now?”
Turns out nothing says “I don’t care” like a card that doesn’t shed sparkles on the carpet until Easter. 🎄
📍 Trivia 📍
The very first commercial Christmas card was created in 1843 in London by Sir Henry Cole. He was too lazy to write individual letters to all his friends, so he hired an artist to make 1,000 cards—and basically invented “mass holiday ghosting.”
That 1843 card sold for one shilling each (about $6–7 today). One of the only surviving originals sold at auction in 2022 for over $20,000. Procrastination pays… eventually.

This Week’s Feature-North Carolina for the Holidays!
Moore Square Winterfaire
Raleigh just dropped the coziest new tradition in town: Moore Square Winterfaire, running December 11–14, 2025, and it’s completely free. Picture historic Moore Square transformed into a twinkling winter village with over a million lights, sixty local makers selling pottery, jewelry, and heirloom-worthy gifts, food trucks dishing out pimento grilled cheese and brisket sliders, and a beer garden pouring spiked cider strong enough to make your scarf feel unnecessary. Kids can battle in fake-snowball arenas, roast s’mores over open flames, snap pics with Santa, and make ornaments while live bluegrass keeps everyone dancing in their boots. Hours are Thursday–Friday 5–9 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.–10 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Skip the mall madness, grab your people, and come soak up real holiday magic—Raleigh style. See you under the lights. 🎄✨

Minnesota Strangers Save Nine Sled Dogs After Highway Crash
On a frigid Minnesota morning, dog-sled trainer Jack Christopher was hauling his nine beloved huskies to a winter event when disaster struck. On slick ice along Interstate 494 near Minnetonka, the trailer fishtailed and split open, sending frightened dogs scrambling onto the highway. Jack leapt from his truck in panic — these weren’t just working dogs, they were his team, his family.
What happened next was an outpouring of humanity. Drivers stopped their cars and ran toward traffic, shielding the dogs with their bodies. Police officers and bystanders knelt on the cold pavement, calling softly to the terrified animals, coaxing them to safety. One officer wrapped his coat around a shaking husky until the dog calmed. After an hour of teamwork, all nine dogs were found, unharmed, and reunited with Jack. The relief on his face brought several rescuers to tears. It was a moment where strangers, united by compassion, kept a tragedy from unfolding.
"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."
— Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
