If you’ve ever wondered what makes Wake County and Raleigh such incredible places to live, work, and grow, the answer is clear — the whole country is taking notice!

Raleigh: A Star on the National Stage

Raleigh has been crowned the #1 Best-Performing Large City in the U.S. by the prestigious Milken Institute this year. This honor celebrates our city’s unstoppable job growth, rising wages, and booming tech sector — a real hub for innovation and opportunity.

But that’s not all. U.S. News & World Report ranked Raleigh the #6 Best Place to Live in America, thanks to its strong job market, affordability, and outstanding quality of life. And Niche put us at #22 Best City to Live in America, highlighting our excellent public schools, low crime, diverse communities, and welcoming neighborhoods.

Raleigh also snagged the #1 spot as the U.S. City Attracting the Most Families, according to Forbes, a testament to our family-friendly amenities and vibrant growth.

Tech professionals take note: Course Report named Raleigh one of the top cities for tech jobs in 2025, reflecting our dynamic software and tech industry that’s creating exciting career opportunities across the board.

Wake County: Where Families Thrive

Wake County itself is making waves too! Niche evaluated more than 2,700 counties nationwide and ranked Wake County #4 Best County to Live in America. We ranked high for our excellent public schools, abundant job opportunities, and welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.

In fact, Wake County took the #1 spot in North Carolina as the Best County for Families, recognized for its low crime rates, strong schools, and supportive community resources.

Wondering where the best neighborhoods are? According to Niche, some of Wake County’s top places to live include:

  • #1 Cary

  • #2 Morrisville

  • #3 Apex

  • #4 Rolesville

  • #5 Wake Forest

These accolades confirm what we already feel every day — Wake County and Raleigh offer an unbeatable combination of economic opportunity, quality education, safety, and community spirit. It’s no wonder families, professionals, and businesses keep choosing to call this area home.
